How to play

Get from one life to the other through people who were alive at the same time.

Name anyone whose life overlaps either end of your chain.
Someone who lived inside the gap stays on the board, to be linked up later.
Close the gap from both sides. Every guess counts toward your score. Par is what a good player needs: more for obscure stretches and narrow rules.
You get par + 3 misses (4 at par 1, 10 at par 7). Islands and detours don't count as misses.

A new puzzle every day, harder as the week goes on. Two people link if they were both alive in the same year: born in 1882, the year the other died, counts. Only the part of a life we can be sure of counts: if a birth is given as c. 70 BC, the overlap is judged as if it could be a few years later.
